Talanta, Coast Stima top

FC Talanta have retaken their lead in the Betika National Super League 2020/21 standings from Coast Stima after a fortnight although both sides are separated by a three-goal difference.

Talanta drew 2-2 with Sony Sugar away in Awendo Stadium on Friday last week and so far, after five rounds, the team has three wins and a healthy goal difference of +7 after scoring 12 goals.

Talanta under Ken Kenyatta is seemingly turning into an astute side that will be challenging for the title by the end of May.

Meanwhile, Coast Stima who were leading the log until last week lost their first game of the campaign after going down 0-1 to Shabana FC on Thursday. 

Stima have also won three matches with their first defeat coming at Gusii Stadium against Shabana who are ninth on the log with seven points.

Surprise package Fortune Sacco who stunned Nairobi Stima 3-2 at GEMS Cambridge grounds are third on the log with 10 points as well but with a goal difference of +2.

Other early pacesetters include the pair of  Kibera Black Stars and Kisumu All-Stars who share nine points and are fourth and fifth in the log with similar goal differences.

Black Stars on Friday beat visiting Vihiga Bullets 2-1 at Ligi Ndogo grounds, while All-Stars drew 1-1 with league newcomers Mully Children’s Family (MCF). 

At the lower end of the table, Muranga Seal continue to struggle at the base with their fourth loss of the campaign coming against newbies Mwatate United on Friday at their home turf of St Sebastian Park,Muranga.

Seal has only one point with a poor goal difference of -2 after five matches which have seen them let in eight goals. 

Soy United and Mt Kenya United are also in the red with three and two points respectively after both conceding 21 goals.

The pair that was relegated from the premier league Chemelil Sugar and Sony Sugar are mid-table separated by a point in 11th and 12th positions respectively.
