Tennis Kenya lines up 23 major events for 2022

Tennis Kenya has lined up a total of 23 events in 2022 with junior programmes making up most of the local events in a busy calendar serving off this weekend. 

First off will be the Tennis Kenya 10s and the Junior Series before the East Africa Zone Championships, the ITF 18 and Under Circuit. 

Key events in  February will include the Nairobi International Junior Circuit and the ITF/CAT East Africa Zonals Championships, and a Senior Challenge Championship open to all affiliates.

Other top events of the year are the Kenya Open Championships that will make a return after a two year absence in July alongside the Kenya Junior Open at the Nairobi Club where defending champions Angela Okutoyi and Ismael Changawa are set to take part in the competition that attracts players from different countries in Africa and beyond.  

Another key event will be the ITF Uniqlo Wheelchair Tour scheduled for late February and the ITF World Tennis Tour in the same month. 

There will also be a busy schedule in June which will see the Africa Beach Games with Kenya expected to send a team. 

In the same month, the Davis Cup men’s team will start their journey in the Africa Zone 3 World Group 2 Division after unsuccessful attempts at promotion in the last two years.

 June will also see the Kenya Open county activities including the Kenya Open Social Spoon event activated at the Nairobi Club. 

There will also be the Tennis Kenya Junior Series 14 and under championship which will be open to all affiliates.

Other off-field events will be the regional coaches workshop in November, the ITF Level 2 School Officiating Course and the Tennis Kenya Annual General Meeting. 

Also significant in the calendar is the ITF/Tennis Kenya National Officiating Course in April which will be also the month that will see Kenyans represented in the Billie Jean Team Cups.
