Agnes Ng'etich produced a dominant display to win the 10km road race in Lille, France, as Geoffrey Toroitich emerged as the victor of the Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Half Marathon.

Ng'etich shines

Ng'etich, the current World Cross-Country bronze medallist, ran in 29:24, which is the second-fastest time ever to win the race and emerge as the winner.

Emmaculate Anyango came in second after placing a personal best time of 29:34, while Christine Njoki clocked 29:40 to cross to finish third.

The win should boost Ngetich's morale after she saw her previous world record time of 29:24 at the Brasov Running Festival in Romania not ratified. This was because the record did not meet the prerequisite standards.

She has been in impressive form, as she also posted a stellar performance at the Athletics Kenya Cross-Country Meet in Bomet. By running in 31:55, she defeated a strong field that consisted of Cynthia Chepngeno and Sandra Chebet, who were second and third in the South Rift race.

Toroitich outwit rivals

Meanwhile, Geoffrey Toroitich reigned supreme in the inaugural Bank of China Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Half Marathon on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

He completed the race in 1:01:38, with Evans Mayaka and Ronald Kirui coming in second and third in 1:01:53 and 1:01:58, respectively.

Uganda's Sarah Chelang'at was the winner of the women's race. The Ugandan won by clocking 1:08.04 ahead of Kenya's Caroline Chepkoech Kipkirui, who timed 1:12:14 and finished third.

Both Toroitich and Chelang'at will pocket Ksh1,515,546) as prize money that is allocated for the winners.
