Vihiga Bullets facing uncertain future as cash crunch bites

With most teams featuring in the Kenyan Premier League and the Betika National Super League intensifying their pre-season preparations, Vihiga Bullets are yet to resume training.

The team, which is being sponsored by former Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga, is experiencing financial difficulties and are in danger of losing some of their star players and members of the technical bench to their rivals. 

Speaking to the media from Chavakali town, the club’s chief executive Collins Juma said unless well-wishers come to the rescue of the team, it will be the end of it.

“We are facing one of the toughest times that leaves our club with a lot of uncertainty.

It will be counterproductive if the club will lose its position in the National Super League and is demoted to lower league, it will hurt many players and demoralise them.

“It took a lot of investment both materially and financially to get the club to this level and it will be very sad to lose this position as it will also take us several years to get us back here.

“I am making a passionate appeal to all well-wishers and corporate  bodies to come to the rescue of the club which offers many local players the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents,’’ said Juma.

Juma also revealed that he is not sure of the players who have left the club as they are yet assembled and commence pre-season preparations.

It’s believed the club is on the brink of losing one of its most experienced and celebrated coach Edward Manoah who is among top local coaches that have submitted their applications for the vacant head coach position at Nzoia Sugar.
