Vihiga Queens gearing up for league return.

Kenya  Women’s Premier League defending champions Vihiga Queens are keen on retaining the title as action resumes after suspension of sports by the government.

Despite the financial challenges the team is going through, the players and the technical bench are in high spirits hoping to pick up from where they stopped as they aim to successfully defend the title to make it four times in a row.

Coach Alex Alumira said the players are all waiting for the re-start and are in good shape, raring to go as they seek to eliminate the mistakes they committed in the first round of the league.

“Things have just resumed and we have had a few sessions together as a team.

We, however, believe the girls have done their best in individual training with most being in good shape physically but we need to work on a few other areas before our match.

“We have been having a lot of goal creating chances that are not fully utilised and this is one area we want to work on and fix before we resume the league as we aim at finishing strongly with a good number of goals.

Team captain Enes Mango said they can’t wait for the league to start, adding the league will boost their preparations for the Cecafa club championship set for July. Vihiga resume the league away against Eldoret Falcons.
