Vihiga Queens proved too strong for Kangemi Ladies with a convincing 5-0 victory in the Women’s Premier League at ABSA Grounds, Nairobi at the weekend.

Goals by Providence Mukalo in the 44th minute, Sharlyne Opisa in the 64th minute & 77th minute, Janet Moraa in the 72nd minute and Joy Irungu in the 93rd minute were enough to vanquish the poor Kangemi visitors. The heavy loss places Kangemi in 11th place with only three points after getting only a single win in 12 games. The huge win means Vihiga Queens return to the top spot albeit on goal difference (+23) with Gaspo second in the standings despite a goalless tie with Nakuru City Queens.

Meanwhile third placed Thika Queens on 24 points also had a successful weekend following a 1-0 slim win over visiting Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Thika Stadium. The lone goal was scored by Catherine Githae in the 33rd minute which now places the Thika-based giants on eight wins inside 12 matches played thus far. They have a goal difference of +19 having netted 33 times this campaign.

Elsewhere, Kisumu All-Starlets got back to winning ways following a 2-1 win over Bunyore Starlets at Moi Stadium in Kisumu County. All-Stars who are placed tenth came from behind to pick full points at home. Bracksides Itamba of Bunyore had opened the account with a 16th-minute effort before the home team responded albeit later on with goals from Monica Etot’s brace in the 69th and 79th minutes. The fourth for All-Starlets win gives the lakeside team 13 points off 11 matches. Bunyore on their part is sixth in the table with 16 points off four wins in 12 matches played.

In other games, fourth-position Ulinzi Starlets overcame a stubborn Zetech Sparks 1-0 with Ketsia Lichungu scoring the lone goal in the 75th minute.
