Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo’s stop-gap coaching at Gor Mahia has apparently hit a brickwall after his club Posta Rangers club refuted claims of an impending move.

Yesterday, Rangers Chief Executive Officer John “Terry” Wakhu said Omollo is still the full-time coach of the mailmen and that he was not aware of the tactician’s deal with Gor.

“He is still contracted by Rangers on a full time basis and we are not aware of his temporary attachment to Gor. This is the position,” said Wakhu.

To drive his point home during the interview with People Daily, Wakhu said he was seated with the tactician at Rangers’ officials bench during the team’s training session at Jamhuri Park ground.

“As I’m talking to you, we are seated with Omollo after he had conducted morning work-outs.

We don’t where these reports of him joining have emanated from,” said Wakhu.

In the meantime, Omollo could not be reached later to confirm or deny the move as phone calls to him and texts went unanswered.

Champions League

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier had earlier said that Omollo will be in the technical area as Gor plays Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) in the CAF Champions League.

The decision to hire Omollo was informed by Confederation of African Football banning current trainer Roberto Oliveira Goncalves for lack of CAF “A” coaching qualification papers which is contrary to the guidelines of the Africa governing body.

Gor hired Omollo through a communique on their website, on a temporary basis as they sorted out the paper work with the Brazilian trainer.

“We have settled on Sammy Omollo to be the stand-in coach for the team in Rwanda as we try to sort out the current coach’s issue with Caf,” said Rachier.

The reports linking Omollo with Gor came even as others emerged that the team was keen in re-uniting with expatriate coach Frank Nuttal who tweeted that he is a free agent.

“An available Frank Nuttal. Very experienced UEFA Pro License coach with Masters and bachelors in Sports Science and Physical Education.

Well rested, fit and highly motivated and ambitious to achieve more success in football. All proposals will be considered,’’ read the tweet.
