Gusii Starlets beat visiting Rongai Eaglets 5-0 on Saturday to bag their first win in the FKF Women Division One League this season.

Winslet Zira hit a hat-trick before Laura Nyaera’s effort and an own goal sealed the win to ensure coach Lai Oyori’s led side put their five-matches winless run to an end in an emphatic way.

“We have new young players who are gelling together but it’s one match at a time. Our previous matches have been difficult, drawing two matches and losing three was hectic but we’re happy to finally end the winless run and you will see more wins from us,” Gusii Starlets team manager Ali Mustafa told People Sport.

Elsewhere, Mombasa Olympic Ladies FC coach Joseph Oyoo was full of praise for youngster Perl Olesi, a Standard Seven pupil and the league’s youngest player for her explosive performance in their one-all draw with host MTG Ladies FC in Kilifi.

“Olesi is a true joy to watch. She’s pure talent and without a doubt, she’s the second Mwanahalima ‘Dogo’ Adam I’m nurturing. I used to field her at the back but today I decided to field her as a forward and she delivered. This girl is pure talent, she’s versatile and can play any position except goalkeeping. I’m really happy for her” lauded coach Joseph Oyoo.

Mathare United Women and newbies Uweza Women FC also played to a one-all draw as Gideon’s Starlets beat hosts Sep Oyugis 2-1.

Meanwhile, outstanding Hellen Nzilani scored an important goal as newcomers Falling Waters Barcelona FC beat Soccer Sisters 1-0 at the Nyahururu stadium on Saturday.

The lone goal was scored from a long range shot in the 53rd minute.

The Nyahururu side dominated the game played under sunny clear skies, but failed to translate to goals the many chances that they created.

Falling Waters Barcelona wil next host MTG  at the same venue on Wednesday.

Later the Nyahururu side will travel to Nairobi to play against Makolanders at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday.
