Kenyan boxer Fatuma Zarika is scheduled to return to the ring tonight in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The immediate former World Boxing Council Super Bantamweight champion who lost her belt one year ago in Chihuahua, Mexico will face off against Zimbabwe’s Patience Mastara in an eight-round bout.

It will be Zarika’s first match since her loss to Mexican Yamileth Mercado on November 16, 2019, a fight that left her bitter and enraged over lack of support from the government.

An angry Zarika at the time said she was not sorry over the loss adding that the Mexican deserved to keep the belt since her achievements are not appreciated in Kenya. She has since been doing her personal projects.

“The Dar fight night will showcase the best of boxing with representation from five countries,” said event organiser Jackson Group Sports Tanzania. The event sponsored by Azam TV will also feature boxers from Argentina, DRC, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

Another exciting bout on the cards will have Tanzanian super middleweight boxer Hussein Itaba against Congolese Alex Kabangu in a 10 round fight. The 36-year old 6’1’ boxer has a career six knockouts.

On the ladies card, home girl Zulfa Macho will square it out with Zambian Alice Mbwewe in a super flyweight bout.
