A sandstorm swept across Dakar, capital of Senegal on Tuesday, carrying sand and dust that blind the locals.
The sandstorm blew in from the Sahara Desert over the weekend also shrouded Mauritania, Morocco, and the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of northwestern Africa.
As a result, all eight airports on the island were forced to close on Sunday, stranding tourists.
The Ministry of Environment of Senegal issued a red alert on Monday as the dust storm is expected to stay in the country till Thursday. (Xinhua)
