Simiyu seeking to sidestep errors
Kenya Sevens rugby team head coach Innocent Simiyu is aiming to reduce unforced errors ahead of the second leg of Rugby Africa Solidarity Camp this weekend.
Shujaa finished second in the first event hosted at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sports in South Africa.

Kenya had silenced Zimbabwe and South Africa Two on Day One before upsetting SA Academy and Uganda on Day Two.
Speaking from Stellenbosch, Simiyu was, however, pleased with the effort with the losses identifying how the Boks raised the intensity of the game to force Shujaa into making mistakes.
“Overall the team played well and we are pleased with the progress. Our concern is the unforced errors when the intensity of the game was raised,” Simiyu told People Sport.
On the first day of action Kenya went down 27-14 to the Boks in a first meeting since February 2020 where Kenya lost 31-5 in Hamilton Sevens.
Kenya did not execute as expected with Herman Humwa and Nelson Oyoo scoring in the first match.
In the second meeting with South Africa in the finals, Shujaa’s defense was exposed once again with Boks quickly punishing their mistakes.
Alvin Otieno made the only try before Tony Omondi converted it.
Shujaa opened up the second day of the competition with a perfect 26-0 win over South Africa Academy before stamping authority in the East African with a 24-7 comeback win against Uganda.
