Mwingi North Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Nzengu has defended his seat on a Wiper Party ticket after garnering 23,560 votes against his closest opponent John Munuve of Jubilee Party who got 17,589 votes.

Ngengu's was fundamental in Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka's bid to remain relevant as the Ukambani kingpin.

"And now, I want to declare Paul Musyimi Nzengu the winner of Mwingi North parliamentary seat after garnering a total of 23,560 votes of the total votes cast," Mwingi North IEBC Returning Officer Malonza Martin Mule announced.

After being declared the winner, the legislators lauded the IEBC for spearheading a free and fair election.

"I want to take this chance to thank the IEBC for their tireless effort in ensuring a free and fair election. I also want to thank our security officers for ensuring that peace is maintained, during and after the election," Nzengu stated.

The area MP also thanked the area residents for re-electing him, promising to deliver on all the promises he made during his campaigns.

"To all the Mwingi people who woke up very early in the morning to go and vote for me, I say thank you. I promise to work tirelessly to improve your livelihood in the next five years," the MP added.

The legislator urged his competitors to help him to serve the area residents, telling them to concede defeat as in every election there must be a winner and a loser.

The Wiper Party has stumped its authority in the entire Ukambani region sweeping most of the elective seats.
