Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati's campaigns got a boost yesterday after the Tachoni community-backed his re-election bid.

The community’s national chair Wasilwa Wekesa, under the umbrella of Tachoni Cultural Society (Tacuso), led his team to Wangamati side, saying he had shown love to them by picking their son Evans Murumba as running mate.

“Wangamati previously picked Charles Ngome from the community as his deputy and this time he has again settled on Murumba who is also our son, this is a big honour to us,’’ said Wekesa.

Speaking in Webuye East, Wekesa said the decision to back Wangamati was that apart from considering the community to be part of his administration he had also done a lot in terms of development.

“We have benefited a lot in terms of development in the Constituency for the last five years and we are set to get more if he is reelected through our son Murumba’’ said the chairman.

Wekesa further noted: “Wangamati consulted us and we gave him Murumba after Ngome went to vie for senatorial position and this shows he has a lot of respect for the Tachoni community.”

The chairman asked the community to support Wangamti’s bid saying they stand to get more development projects and slots in the county government.

The Tacuso women league leadership led by Gladys Chetekei applauded Wangamati for having nominated their son as his running mate.

Chetekei promised that as women they were going to walk from village to village to drum up support for the governor and asked all women to join them in making the dream be true.

“As the Tachoni women we are going to mount vigorous campaigns to ensure that Wangamti is reelected,” said Chetekei.

Wangamati, has pointed fingers at the MCA for his failure in the first term and asked Bungoma residents to give him a chance to redeem his dignity.

Wangamati trounced Lusaka in the 2017 General Elections but has not delivered to the people as he promised during his campaigns in 2017.
