President Uhuru Kenyatta launched a scathing attack in what looked like an indirect hit on his deputy William Ruto just days after the DP said he would form a judicial team to investigate the actions and policies of the incumbent.

Speaking during the launch of Kenya Kwanza manifesto on Thursday night June 30, 2022, Ruto promised to establish, within 30 days, a quasi-judicial public inquiry to establish the extent of cronyism and state capture in Kenya and make recommendations.

On Saturday, July 2, 2022, President Kenyatta seemingly hit back at his deputy when he presided over this year’s International Co-operative Day.

Uhuru told off Ruto over his sustained attacks on the same government he serves, saying the DP himself has failed to deliver.

Uhuru says Ruto is giving Kenyans empty promises

The head of state complained that his deputy has been criticising the government and giving Kenyans empty promises on what he intends to do if he wins the August 9 election.

Uhuru angrily castigated Ruto saying that instead of performing his role as the Deputy President he was just busy making noise everywhere.

"Na ndo mimi nasikitika hapo nkiona wengine ng'we ng'we ng'we mtu amekua huku amepewa kazi badala ya kazi ni mdomo mdomo mdomo mdomo alafu sasa 'tutafanya' kwa nini hukufanya wakati ulikua huko. Hii mambo ya makelele kila saa kichwa yako ni makele makele makele huko huko huko. Watu waache upuzi.

(I am so disappointed when I see some people making noise instead of doing the work they are mandated to do. Their only job is making noise then they are making endless promises 'we will do this and that when elected'. Why can't you do it now? Your head is just full noise, stop being silly)," Uhuru ranted.
