Credit Bank fetes Kenyan women in business
Credit Bank recently feted women leaders during the Women in Business Awards 2019 that brought together the creme de la creme of business enterprises in Kenya.
The awards sought to acknowledge and celebrate Women in Business for their role and contribution in creating jobs and building the Kenyan economy through their innovations and enterprises.
The awards ceremony incorporated the fashion night that showcased the creativity and beauty of women in business.
“Through the bank’s Entrepreneurship Hub, we anticipate to help direct additional financing and leadership programs to women entrepreneurs.
"The institution has developed financial technology products tailored to female customers and provide business support for owners of social enterprises.
"Through social impact investors bank has committed to ensuring support of women owned businesses,” said Pamela Mutembei Head of Business and Banking, Women in business (WIB).
On the other hand, it aims to bring together businesswomen from diverse sectors in the economy to help them grow as they encounter new challenges concurrent with the changes in their jobs and in the business environment that they operate in, at both county and national levels.
Essential Bargains, a firm that deals with supplies, services and consultancy services was voted the start-up of the year while Josephine Irungu scooped the Human Resource top women in Business Award.
The beauty and fashion award of the year went to Liz Njoroge Collections.
Credit Bank is also providing networking and mentorship forums for the women entrepreneurs in Kenya, in a bid to support women entrepreneurs and ease access to capital.
These products and services are tailored to women’s needs, through loan products with favourable collateral requirements and products that include a social support network linking women entrepreneurs to one another.
New research from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) found that if female entrepreneurs received as much support as male entrepreneurs, the global economy could experience up to a $5 trillion boost hence empowering women to start up business is an issue of global development too.
Women who have played a major role in the achievement of the Big Four Agendas were also recognised.
