Smartphone companies are adjusting to customers' financial strain, shifting attention to affordability whilst maintaining top-notch specifications to attract sales.

One of the phone companies pioneering this new wave is Tecno Mobility which recently added Camon 18 to their line of Camon series.

Tecno which is part of Transsion Holdings, and Samsung are in close competition as leading mobile device vendors in Kenya between 2018 and 2021 and as of June 2021, the two companies had market shares of 22.33 and 17.34 per cent respectively.

“Tecno and the Camon series, in particular, has been about introducing cutting-edge and stylish smartphones to the global emerging market. By using the African market as a launchpad, we have been able to achieve a global footprint and we now have a presence that spans the globe, from Latin America to Southeast Asia. Through your support, our brand now has over 80,000 points of sale across the world, ” Tecno Brand Manager Shiva Zhong said.

Shiva further added that through the support of Tecno customers across Africa, the brand has consistently been ranked among the most admired in Africa.

"The customer played a central role in the development of the Tecno Camon 18," Zhong said.

Through the alpha testers’ program also known as the Chief Experience Officers, TECNO is able to get feedback from users on how to continuously improve the devices.

The Camon 18 is designed for the mavericks; those that have a progressive mindset and will stop at nothing to achieve their dreams. This is evident with the technical profile of the smartphone.

The focus point of the Camon 18 is the stabilization technology that ensures a steady camera experience. Additionally, the development of the Camon 18 took on three priorities; pioneering camera innovations, stylish and exquisite design, and superb user experience.

It is available in three unique variants; the Camon 18, Camon 18P, and Camon 18 Premier. The Camon 18 series starts selling from Ksh39,099 for the Premier while the regular Camon 18 starts selling from Ksh27, 699 and the Camon 18P starts selling from Ksh22,199 at its retail stores countrywide and partner e-commerce platforms.
