Jubilee party candidate Kariri Njama has cast his vote in the Gachie Primary school polling station.

The Jubilee candidate arrived at the polling centre minutes after 11.00 am in the company of leaders in support of his candidature including Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege among others.

Speaking to the press shortly after casting his vote, Njama thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee party for standing with him.

He exuded confidence that he will win the seat.

“The blessings of the rains speak it all that we have been blessed by God. We are confident that this is our win. We are going to use this by-election to prove that the Jubilee Party is the party of Kenya,” he said.

The Jubilee candidate further expressed confidence in the conduct of the IEBC, security officers and the people participating in the by-election.

“We have no problem; we have faith and confidence with the IEBC. The conduct of security personnel provided by the government, and the people themselves is very satisfactory,” he stated.

He thanked security officers for maintaining law and order given that they heard reports of planned chaos.

“We heard that there were attempts to cause chaos at various polling stations but we are happy that the plans were thwarted before they could materialize,” he added.

MP Kanini on his part condemned an incident where the Majority Leader of the National Assembly Amos Kimunya was confronted by a group of youths at a polling station in the area.

He noted that the law is very clear on who can be an agent in any elective contest.

“There is no law that stops someone from being an agent. If the party wishes to nominate someone to be an agent, no law bars that someone from taking the role. It is unfortunate that the majority leader was harassed by some goons,” he stated.

Njama is facing stiff competition from UDA party candidate John Njuguna Wanjiku.
