Azimio La Umoja-allied politicians have closed ranks with Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, telling him to walk alone if he was not ready to work with the coalitions flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.

A meeting that was attended by Narc leader and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu (pictured), her Makueni counterpart and Muungano boss Kivutha Kibwana, Azimio Executive Director Raphael Tuju and hundreds of aspirants from three Ukambani counties resolved that Raila’s presidential campaigns in the region will go on undeterred.

Development comes at a time when Kalonzo has declared that he will be in the ballot in what appeared to be a protest after he failed to clinch the Azimio running mate position.

Political nemesis

Ngilu, Kalonzo’s perennial political nemesis, said the Kamba community will not allow the former Vice-President to lead it to opposition, especially at a time when there was opportunity to be in Government.

Kitui governor said Kalonzo has made Kamba community a laughing stock after having recently promised to support Raila unconditionally during the Azimio  maiden rally at Jacaranda Gardens.

“I have not asked any single position since I Joined Azimio. I know the power of a Chief Minister in a Government, who on earth would turn down such a position?” she asked.

Her sentiments were echoed by Kibwana, who hit out at Kalonzo, saying the Kamba community would be far in terms of development had it not been for his indecisiveness.

“If Kalonzo wants to run and loose alone, then it is fine... because we want to tell our people the truth that we only have two horses in the presidential ticket. One for Raila and Martha and then William Ruto,” Kibwana said.
