100 girls get power to dream again
Over 100 girls whose dreams were shattered due to early pregnancies and marriages yesterday had their hope renewed after graduating from Mully College, a subsidiary of Mully Children Family (MCF).
The girls, who were rescued from across the country graduated with diplomas and certificates in vocational and business courses after they were fully sponsored by MCF in Machakos.
The graduands came from unforgiving backgrounds with some being partial and total orphans.
They were trained in business studies, journalism and mass communication, vocational training with bias in hairdressing and beauty therapy, information technology, tailoring, agriculture and community development.
MCF chief executive Dr. Charles Mully said the institution which was established 30 years ago has seen about 18,000 girls rescued, rehabilitated, trained and empowered to start businesses.
He said the institution had set aside funds to give capital to the graduands to enable them to start income-generating ventures.
“Some of them have no place to call home, those ones we will incorporate them here (MCF) as part of the working staff as we help others to get jobs,” added Mully.
