Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has moved to wrestle control of the vote rich Mt Kenya region from the grip of Deputy President William Ruto by forming political alliances with several governors from the region.

Speaking after holding consultations with Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga on Saturday, July 17, Mudavadi said he is negotiating with governors from the region and once an understanding is reached they will form a winning coalition.

"I am having discussions with a number of governors from this region, in fact I recently met governor Kimemia of Nyandarua, once we agree we will announce our coalition which will shake the country and unite all regions for our peacefully coexistence as country," Mudavadi said.

While fielding questions from journalists, the ANC party boss said that coalitions are strengthened by trust adding that the reason NASA fell apart was because of lack of trust among partners.

"It's true NASA died a slow death a long time ago, many have been asking why Kalonzo Musyoka is asking questions. He is doing so on behalf of all of us but it's very true that NASA died due to lack of trust,"Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi's comments come at time Mt Kenya region is said to be politically leaning towards Deputy President William Ruto's allied United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party which trounced Jubilee in the recent by-elections in Kiambaa.

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga who hosted Mudavadi said that the region is open to all those seeking support adding that they welcome anyone who will address the plight of the region.

Mudavadi who was accompanied by a host of MPs from Western said that once elected to office he will address the issue of poor prices of coffee, tea and milk which are the main income earners of the region.

He castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration pointing out the heavy taxation which he described as harmful to the common Mwananchi who is suffering in silence.

"The reason why Kenyans are complaining of a poor economical state is due to fact that everything is taxed heavily ,this has led to high prices of commodities including animal feeds. That is why an egg from Uganda is cheaper, " Mudavadi said.

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja who was in the  entourage urged Jubilee party leaders to consider getting into a coalition with ANC saying that the problems in Jubilee can only be solved through strong coalitions with sober leaders such as Mudavadi.

Mudadavadi is expected to visit several churches in Nyeri and Kieni constituencies on Sunday, July 18.
