Arama under fire on constituency cash
Residents of Nakuru Town West have called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to launch a probe into the area’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF) over alleged misappropriation of funds.
They claim that a number of projects launched by area MP Samuel Arama were questionable and exaggerated, adding that efforts to have information on how the same were done have been futile.
A resident-Jimmy Wagakabu noted that the funds had not been utilised as required by law. He wants an audit of all projects in the constituency.
“We have written letters to the CDF board seeking to have information on how a number of projects were executed to no avail,” said Wagakabu.
Wagakabu added that they will be moving to court seeking to have the Nakuru Town West CDF account frozen, until they release crucial information on the current ongoing projects.
On his part, Hezron Okiki- alocal politician accused the CDF board of being a puppet saying they had camouflaged into a political outfit.
According to Okiki, the MP has been using a number of police officers to intimidate residents who inquire about the funds.
Arama however rubbished the claims saying all projects initiated by the CDF are scrutinised by the Kenya National Audit Office.
He added that all CDF projects including funding, contracting and completion are uploaded in the constitiuency website and can be easily accessed.
He dismissed as untrue claims that he uses police officers to intimidate those inquiring about the use of CDF.
