Blogger with Nairobi metropolitan charged with extorting money

A blogger, who claims to be working with Nairobi metropolitan services and that has previously worked for Mombasa county government, has been charged with extorting money from a Nairobi business man.

Abdulahi Musa Ali is alleged that on April 20, 2021 and April 25, 2021 in Nairobi county having knowledge and with intent to extort money from Abass Ibrahim Khalif caused the said Abass to receive the said written content containing such accusations which he posted on his Facebook page Abdullahi Musa.

According to police report the complainant reported a case of extortion against the accused who is well-known to him, that he was distributing messages and videos on his Facebook account with false claims against the businessman.

The businessman tried reaching the accused to plead with him to pull down the posts and the videos because he could not believe that someone he knew very well and worked with could do such an act, the suspect refused but started demanding for money and threatened to post more stories and videos on his facebook account - Abdulahi Musa.

According to the accused, he claims he is a blogger who has previously worked with Mombasa county government before coming to Nairobi and working for the businessman Abass Khalif.

He claims he started working for Nairobi metropolitan services this year, which he says in the course of his alignment with NMS he has posted on things that touch on the people he has previously worked for.

He pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Martha Nazushi and pleaded for leniency, the prosecution objected for his release on bail. The magistrate ordered the probation officer to file a pre-bail report in 7 days.
