The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce has retreated to compile a report after concluding the public hearing in all 47 counties on Friday.

Initiative vice-chair Adams Oloo said the team will now begin auditing the submissions of Kenyans to compile the final report which will be presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga in October.

“We want to thank Kenyans, all those who have submitted their proposals and we will now retreat to write a report on our findings,” he said as the BBI wrapped up public hearings.

Already, the task force has hired eight experts to help with the finalisation of its report that will recommend a panacea for the challenges confronting the nation.

BBI chair Yusuf Haji revealed the experts will include historians and constitutional lawyers who were competitively hired to ensure the report reflects the aspirations of Kenyans.

“Our term comes to an end in September and we are rushing against time to ensure that we have a solid report that will try to address the issues that were identified,” he said.

BBI has received memorandums from institutions and individuals, having held  10 public hearings at KICC where it has received views from a cross-section of stakeholders.
