Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has challenged Azimio leaders to forego their salaries and other benefits that they receive from the government if they truly believe that Ruto's administration is illegitimate.

Cherargei extended his challenge to ODM leader Raila Odinga, asking him to forego his retirement benefits if he is true to his anti-Ruto course.

The outspoken lawmaker further rubbished Raila's upcoming mass actions, branding them as hot air.

"Can the Azimio-OKA Mps, MCAs, Governors, senators boycott taking salaries plus Tinga boycott taking retirement benefits also since they govt is in office illegally yet Kenyans voted & victory H.E Ruto was upheld by supreme Court. Mass action of Tinga & co. is hot air.

"Since Tinga & co have insisted that the govt is in office illegally then why benefit from the same govt. Tinga is buying time for negotiations of handshake /handcheque with H.E Ruto which shall NOT happen!" he tweeted.

The politician's sentiments come hours after the opposition outfit announced the start of nationwide mass actions.

Led by Raila Odinga, the opposition announced that today marks the official start of nationwide protests against the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Speaking at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, ODM supremo Raila Odinga spelled out actions the opposition outfit will take to compel President William Ruto into resigning and lowering the cost of living.

Raila announced that he will lead a peaceful procession of his supporters in Nairobi on March 20, 2023.

"We launch a campaign of defiance, peaceful protests and demonstrations. It begins today and now. We urge the victims of the retrogressive policies of this illegitimate regime to join this political revolution. We are stronger together.

"Take note. On the 20th of March 2023, we have a date with destiny in Nairobi. On that day, our supporters throughout the country will stage a massive procession in Nairobi for a legitimate and inclusive government," he stated.

Speaking at the event, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the launch of a massive peaceful movement against Ruto's regime.

Kalonzo stated that they will lead the people in taking back their delegated powers.

"We are today launching a massive peaceful movement against an illegitimate, reckless, heartless, incompetent Kenya Kwanza regime. The people are now taking back all their delegated powers. It is now action time," Kalonzo stated.

Raila also took an issue with Ruto's move to constitute a panel to select replacements of former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and the Cherera Four.

According to the opposition chief, the selection panel will play to Ruto's tunes by selecting commissioners who will aid him retain the presidency in 2027.

"The attempt by Kenya Kwanza regime to reconstitute the IEBC by forming a William Ruto commission is a reckless misadventure. The IEBC selection panel is a puppet of Mr Ruto's clique that intends to create 7 Chebukati’s who will aid him in stealing the 2027 elections," he said.
