Covid-19: 619 new cases recorded as positivity rate stands at 13.3 per cent
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 619 new cases of Covid-19 obtained from a sample size of 4,647 posted in the last 24 hours.
The new cases represent a positivity rate of 13.3 per cent.
Out of the total, 606 are Kenyans while 13 are foreigners. 311 are females while 308 are males.
These new positive cases bring the total to 229,628 while the cumulative tests conducted is at 2,316,674.
CS Kagwe has also announced that 1,437 people have recovered from the pandemic out of which 1,318 are from home-based isolation and care while 119 were treated in various health facilities countrywide.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 213,473 with 172,252 of them being from home-based care and isolation program while 41,221 were discharged from various health facilities.
Sadly, 31 Kenyans have lost their lives to the pandemic with all cases being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in July and August. This brings the total number of deaths to 4,528.
According to Kagwe, 2,004 patients are admitted in various health facilities with Covid-19. 8,292 are under home-based isolation and care program.
170 patients are in ICU, 99 of whom are in ventilatory support and 71 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 804 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 741 of them in general wards and 63 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
On vaccination, a total of 2,412,209 vaccines have been administered countrywide. Of these, 1,631,022 account for the first dose while 781,187 are second doses.
