COVID-19: Kenya records 432 news cases as 306 recover

Kenya has recorded 432 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,800 tests,Total recoveries now stand at 117,345 the Ministry of Health has announced.

According to MOH, 306 patients recovered from the disease even as a total of 1,227 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities.

In a Thursday, June 3 statement MOH detailed that 4,957 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

102 patients are in the ICU, 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 59 on supplemental oxygen. 20 patients are under observation.

17 people have succumbed to the disease, two of them in the last 24 hours while 15 are late death reports after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in April. This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,223.

New cases by County; Kisumu 145, Nairobi 52, Siaya 34, Mombasa 26, Migori 21, Nakuru 19, Kilifi 18, Nyamira 14, Vihiga 11, Kitui 10, Uasin Gishu 10, Nandi 9, Turkana 7, Kericho 7, Baringo 6, Bungoma 6, Kajiado 5, Homa Bay 4, Kiambu 3, Kisii 3, Busia 3, Meru 3, Tharaka Nithi 3.

At the same time, Japan’s ambassador to Kenya Horie Ryoichi expressed his government’s commitment for fair & equal deployment of Covid-19 doses across the world as witnessed during the COVAX Advanced Market Commitment Summit where Japan pledged to contribute a further 800M USD to support the cause.

While weclcoming the donation from the republic of Japan, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe lauded the move saying the Kenyan government will commit substantial resources to the Kenya Medical Research Institute KEMRI to make it a premier capacity building institution in the region.

"The fight against Covid-19 in Kenya received a boost today after Japan International Cooperation Agency donated 75,000 PCR kits to KEMRI to boost the laboratory’s capacity for COVID-19 testing," MOH stated.
