Covid-19 update: 10 deaths, 108 patients in ICU

The Ministry of Health has announced 10 new deaths as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Three of the deaths occurred on diverse dates within the last month while the remaining seven were reported from health facility record audits within the same period.

The new record pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,013.

The ministry also announced 72 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,056 tested in the last 24 hours.

This represents a positivity rate of 3.5 per cent. Total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 165,537 while the cumulative tests conducted are 1,746,449.

The distribution of the cases by county are as follow; Nairobi 28, Mombasa 22, Busia 9, Kilifi 3, Embu and Homa Bay 2 cases each, Kwale, Laikipia, Machakos, Nakuru, Nyeri and Kiambu 1 case each.

262 patients have recovered from the disease; 235 of which are from home-based and isolation care, while 27 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries reported this far stands at 113,874 of which 82,777 are from home-based care and isolation and 31,097 are from various health facilities.

1,036 patients are admitted to various health facilities, while 4,729 patients are under the home-based isolation and care program.

108 patients are in the ICU, 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 70 on supplemental oxygen while 15 patients are under observation.

84 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 79 of them in general wards and 5 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
