CS Wamalwa, Oparanya lead Kenyans in Ksh8M fundraiser for AFC Leopards

Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya led Kenyans in fundraising for the financially starved AFC Leopards. 

During the funds drive ceremony held on the evening of Thursday, September  30, over Ksh7M was raised with a majority of MPs and politicians from the Luhya nation making their contributions. 

“Thank you AFC Leopard's leadership and fans for a successful fundraiser which I presided over last night raising over Ksh8M to assist our team in these difficult Covid-19 times,” Wamalwa said. 

Also present during the Harambe was ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and MP for Westlands Tim Wanyonyi who is also AFC Leopard's patron.

Wamalwa delivered President Uhuru Kenyatta’s contribution of Ksh2 million stating that the Head of State has always been supportive of the club. 

“When we took out new bust to State House so that the President can bless it, we also asked him to support our team and he did in an accumulation of Ksh12.5 million over the months during the Covid-19 period. He has today told me that he is yours forever and you can always count on him,” Wamalwa said. 

ODM leader Raila Odinga on the other handed gave a contribution of Ksh1 million which was delivered by Kakamega Governor Oparanya. 

Oparanya in his personal contribution gave the team a donation of Ksh500,000. 

Musalia's ANC left the team with a contribution of Ksh1 million after he left the fundraiser stating that he had another meeting to attend. 

Tim Wanyonyi, the club’s patron donated Ksh400,000 adding that he will donate Ksh100,000 each month for a period of one year.
