Deputy President William Ruto has put the blame on ODM leader Raila Odinga over the failed promises the Jubilee administration gave to Kenyans in the 2017 general elections.

Speaking during his tour in Bungoma county, Ruto claimed that everything was well planned until Raila "hijacked" the government's plan with the introduction of the Constitution Amendment Bill (BBI).

"Everything was well planned until Raila came into Jubilee and initiated the Constitution initiative under BBI. It is at this point that the government's agenda including the Big Four which was to create jobs for the youth was tampered with," Ruto said.

Ruto, therefore, urged the youth to support him in the upcoming election so that he can revive the Big Four Agenda through his bottom-up economic model.

"We will resuscitate the Big Four Agenda by incorporating it with the bottom-up economy model to kick-start the dwindling economy in my first year in office," he said.

In his rallies, he also took a swipe at Raila and his other challengers for the country's top seat. He said that though his competitors have held higher positions of power and have been in politics longer than him, they have no development record that can match his.

“They have held the prime minister, vice president and deputy prime minister posts yet they have nothing to show for it, unlike me who has done a lot during my reign as DP in the Jubilee government," The DP said.

Ruto urged people from Western Kenya to vote for him saying that he had better chances of winning the elections compared to competitors who hail from the region.

He said that at the moment, his party UDA enjoys huge support from over a hundred MPs countrywide regardless of their regions.
