KCPE 2019: Top girl wants to join Alliance, wishes to be neurosurgeon

The second best candidate in this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) in the country wants to join Alliance Girls High School from where she would wish to rise to become a neurosurgeon
Flavian Onyango from St Teresa Chakol Girls Primary School in Teso South scored 439 marks out of 500, just one mark behind the top student in the country Michael Munyiri from Damacrest Academy in Thogoto.
Flavian, who could not hide her happiness for emerging the second best student in KCPE in the country said that she would like to join Alliance girls high school.
She said that it was through hard work and being committed to her class work which enabled her to pass her exams with top marks.
The student said other factors which made her to excel in KCPE was support from her parents and teachers who were always close to her monitoring her studies.
"I would like to become aneuro surgeon doctor after completing my studies," said the jovial Flavian,” she told journalists .
The school head teacher Jesca Okochil commented Flavian for her performance adding that she knew she was going to make it.
"We knew Flavian was going to pass her Kcpe exams with high marks because she was our best student in class eight this year," said Okochil.
Celebrations marred the school going to an extent paralysing business activities at the nearby Adongosi market when word went round like born fire that best second overall student in Kcpe was from the school.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has congratulated Flavian for putting Busia County in the national map adding noting that his government will offer support to vulnerable children who will excel in the exams.
"My government will offer support to vulnerable children who will excel in their exams," said Ojaamong.
Business came to standstill at Adongosi trading after learning that their school which only 500 metres away had produced the second best student in Kcpe from the school.
Meanwhile, it was a moment to savour for Tom Tubei and his family when they received news that their son, Chirchir Mathew Tuitoek had scored 411 while aboard Madaraka SGR Express heading to Mombasa.
Mr Tubei told the People Daily on the phone that they were headed to the Technical University of Mombasa for graduation of a relative when they received the good news yesterday afternoon. “We’re going for graduation so now we’ll make a big celebration there,” he said.
He said that his son has been performing well and the good results did not come as a surprise to them. “He is a good boy. He is obedient and works hard,” he said.
Mathew, 13, said that he wants to be a Civil Engineer in future adding that the good results have given him the motivation to even work harder in future.
It was song and dance at Mogotio Little Friends where several candidates scored impressive marks. Faith Jepkurui who scored 403 marks said she wants to be a pilot. However, Consolata Cheruiyot said that they were expecting higher marks owing to her academic record.
“All in all we give thanks to God,” she said.
