Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has appealed to the government to end cattle rustling menace and insecurity in the North Rift in honour of fallen Chief of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) General Francis Ogolla.
“The best gift and honour we can give the fallen general and his colleagues is to bring to an end the madness of cattle rustling and insecurity in the affected counties,” said Ng’ang’a (pictured).
The MP also appealed to Kenyans to stop speculation on the cause of the helicopter crash that killed Ogolla and nine others in Elgeyo Marakwet county last Thursday.
“This is not the time to speculate about what caused the plane crash. Let us give investigators time to do their work as promised by the President,” said the lawmaker.
Ng’ang’a said she had to postpone the issuing of bursary checks to 10,000 beneficiaries scheduled for last Friday to this Friday to give Thika residents time to join the rest of the country in mourning the loss of the military chief and other officers.
She also paid tribute to Brigadier Said Swalleh, the Commander of 12th Engineers Battalion, Thika who also perished in the accident and was buried at his rural home in Kilifi County on April 19.
“Brigadier Swalleh who was also the Chairman of Thika Barracks Primary School had contributed greatly to uplifting educational standards. His demise is a big blow to the Thika community in general,” said Ng’ang’a.
