American Healthcare entrepreneur Siyad Abdullahi has pleaded with Wajir residents to elect him as their fourth governor promising to fix the ills that have characterized the past regimes.

Siyad expressed disappointment residents of Wajir have not enjoyed the fruits of devolution but have only been treated to nine years of political gimmicks.

While other counties have benefited from billions allocated to them, in Wajir County it has been wasted years of wrangles ranging to impeachments and court battles, he said.

“Time has come for political mistakes we made as a people to be corrected and usher in transformative and progressive leadership, which I seek to offer as the new governor,” President and CEO, Language Banc, LLC told journalists at Wiper Headquarters Karen.

“When you are given Sh9 billion every financial year, with a population of less than a million and we don’t get it right, we are to blame for electing incompetent individuals, it is our mistake, which we should not repeat but have a paradigm shift,” he added.

Siyad spoke when ditched ODM for the Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party. He will face ex-governor Ahmed Abdullahi, who is seeking a comeback on Raila Odinga’s ODM, Dr Hassan Mohamed, who is the flagbearer of the Fai community and will be trying his luck on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.

Others are Mohamed Elmi (UPIA), Senator Abdullahi Ali (UDM), Ugas Sheikh Mohamed of PNU, and incumbent Governor Abdi and his deputy.

Siyad said he is prepared to give the troubled devolved unit a fresh start; pegged on good policies for development and support programs.

Abdullahi has identified seven critical areas of youth unemployment, healthcare, water, education, lack of sewage, drought management, and electricity that will form his campaign messaging.

“I am coming to Wajir to make a tremendous impact; I have training in public health and I have been CEO for more than 15 years, I want to bring competencies and good practices from abroad and particularly private to the management of Wajir county affairs,” he said.

“Our youths do have jobs despite their qualifications, Wajir is not in the national grid, Water is a big crisis, healthcare is in a mess, doctors are using torches to attend to their patients, its dehumanizing to say the least, it unacceptable at this time,” added Siyad.
