Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.

Ruto, Gachagua wind up three-day tour of Mt Kenya

President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua are wrapping up their three-day journey across the Mt Kenya region.

Their final destinations on Friday include Mathira and Gatundu South constituencies.

Their tour began on Wednesday with visits to Lari and Kangema constituencies. On Thursday, they continued their journey with stops in Gatanga, Maragua, and Othaya.

During their time in Lari, they inaugurated new roads and markets, while in Kangema, they marked the launch of projects such as the Kenya Medical Training College and water and irrigation projects in Gatanga constituency, among other projects.

Former NG-CDF Account Manager corruption case

The corruption case involving Former Laikipia East National Government Constituency Fund (NG-CDF) Account Manager Arnold Karani Nom, along with five others will be mentioned on Friday, February 16, 2024.

The six face charges of conspiracy to commit corruption and financial misconduct.

The accusations stem from the alleged transfer of Ksh14.9 million from the NG-CDF to the Thingthu phase II Road Management Committee account.

EACC says the road project associated with this fund transfer was neither executed nor approved by the NG-CDF Board.

Power interruptions

Kenya Power has announced an electricity interruption scheduled to affect some parts of Nairobi, Kiambu and Kisii counties on Friday, February 16.

Parts of Nairobi County, South B and Plains View in particular, will be affected by an eight-hour blackout, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Comply Industries, South B Chief’s Camp, South B Total Petrol Stn, NHIF Houses, South B Mosque, Bondo Rd, Kariba Est, River Bank Est, Part of Mariakani Est, Hazina Ests, Plains View Est, Part of Parkside View Est, ACK St. Veronica Catholic Church, Plainsview Junior Academy, Golden Gate Est, Aoko Rd, Balozi Est, Railway Training Institute, South B Shopping Centre, Balozi Est, Mater Hosp, Mariakani Est, Daidai Rd, Kapiti Rd, Highway Sec Sch, Elimu Sacco, South B Police Stn, KIMC, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Kenol Kobil Petrol Stn and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kisii County will not have an electricity supply for six and a half hours, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

The affected areas include; Kegati Water, Nyamemiso, Part of Menyinkwa, Riamangera & adjacent customers.

Parts of Kiambu County will experience power interruptions for eight hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Mwimto, Wangige, Kessel Homes, Gathiga, Njonjos Farm, Epic Apts and adjacent customers.
