Fifa must stop politicking and respect Kenyan law, says Ole Magelo
Former AFC Leopards chairman Alex ole Magelo has accused world football governing body FIFA of having undue interests in Kenya’s football electoral process which is against rules of impartiality.
Magelo argues that the term of office for the current Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials is over and therefore the occupants of the Goal Project offices should vacate forthwith. He claims FIFA is pushing an agenda that seems mischievous.
“I have a problem with the way Fifa is handling the current stalemate in Kenyan football which they have literally helped create.
It is now clear they are playing to someone’s tune and we can only guess who.
We want FIFA to tell us clearly on what basis they recognize the current office and what is the agenda of the stakeholders meeting proposed for Monday.
That is why some of us are not comfortable with their recent pronouncements against the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) which is a constitutional body,” said Magelo who told People Sport that he had written a protest letter to FIFA.
Magelo who also declared his interest in the FKF presidency, questioned the sincerity of the global body which through its Chief Officer for Member States Veron Mosengo-Omba last week gave a seal of approval to the current office bearers against the ruling and proposals of SDT.
“I think the argument by Mosengo-Omba is hypocritical and he needs to pronounce his intentions very clearly.
