Five police officers sue NPSC chair, IG for contempt of court
Five police officers now want National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairman Eliud Kinuthia and the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai jailed for six months for contempt of court.
Evans Muriuki Muthuri , Odikara Oling’a Ruth , David Ochom, Linet Wandia Njagi and George Barasa accuse the IG and the NPSC chairman of disobeying court orders which directed them to pay graduate constables salaries equivalent to the pay of an inspector of police job Group J as per the prevailing NPSC policy.
According to the five, Kinuthia and Mutyambai have blatant disregarded, disobeyed orders of the court and want them cited for contempt of court.
They want the court to issue summons to the NPSC chair and the IG to show cause why they should not be punished by the court for contempt of court.
The police officers also want their two detained in prison for a period of six months for disobediences of the said court orders and the Director of Criminal Investigations be ordered to personally execute their warrants of arrest.
The court had on May 17 issued orders that graduate police officers who are university graduates on a salary scale below Job Group J and yet qualifies as graduate police officers are entitled to be emplaced to Job Group J.
