Football: Bomet sound warning with win over Lapfund

Bomet stamped their authority in men’s football after beating Lapfund 5-1 in a thrilling encounter at Kericho Teachers Training College on the second day of the Kenya Inter Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games in Kericho.

Benard Korir scored a hat-trick in the first half with the opener in the 12th minute, the second in the 27th minute and the third in the 41st minute.

Clement Rono and Anderson Kirui scored a goal each in the second half of the match as Godian Mabinda scored Lapfund’s consolation goal in the 70th minute.

At the same time, Kajiado beat Busia 1-0 with Ishmael Nasure, the team captain scoring for the winners.Meru also beat Ukatuzi team 5-1 in another match.

Goals from Munda Mbarak and Mohammed Hussein from Mombasa were enough to shoot down stubborn Kericho .

Mbarak netted a superb goal at the stroke of half-time when he sent home a thundering shot outside the box before Hussein wrapping up the scoring in the 80th minute to assure their side a perfect start in the games.

Efforts by the home side to get even a goal were thwarted by Mombasa’s strong defence who could not take chances and were out for a clean sheet during the proceedings.

In another match, Nairobi and Samburu settled to 1-1 draw. Cyrus Oloo scored for Nairobi as  Jonathan Wasinali ensured Samburu spoilt the party for their opponents when he netted a goal which saw the two teams sharing the spoils.
