Four Covid-19 deaths push fatalities to 1,817
Four people have died from Covid-19 on Saturday pushing the fatality to 1, 817 overall since the disease was reported first in Kenya.
In the latest update, 152 people have tested positive of the disease from 3, 734 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the cumulative number of positive cases to 103, 993 since the first case was identified in Kenya in March 2020.
The total number of positive cases according to the Ministry of Health's Covid-19 update for February 20, 2021 hit 1, 262, 358.
Out of the 152 positive cases, 137 are Kenyans while 15 are foreigners.
Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe this afternoon listed 104 as males and 48 being females.
"The youngest is a two-year-old while the oldest is 88," the CS said in his update as Nairobi maintained it's hotspot status with 105 positive cases followed by Mombasa and Nakuru with eight (8) cases each.
Eight (8) patients hospitalised in various health facilities across the country have recovered from the disease, Kagwe said noting this brings the number of total recoveries to 85, 540 so far.
"There are 335 patients admitted in health facilities across the country, 1, 151 patients are on Home-Based Isolation and Care," the Covid-19 report indicates.
The report says that 47 patients are currently fighting for their lives in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 18 of them on ventilators, while 24 are on supplemented oxygen.
Kagwe said 5 patients are being observed with another 9 separately on supplementary oxygen.
"We have 8 in general wards and 1 in High Dependency Unit," the CS said.
The other counties that recorded positive cases include; Kiambu and Uasin Gishu with seven (7) cases each followed by; Machakos and Taita Taveta with three (3) each among others with lower than that.
