Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has today handed over the presidency of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to Angola’s President João Lourenço during the organization's 10th summit in Luanda, Angola.

Kenya took over the leadership of the presidency of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) during former President Uhuru Kenyatta's reign. The leadership was automatically passed over to Ruto after his August 9th win.

Gachagua who was acting at the behest of President William Ruto addressed the summit, highlighting the milestones the organization has achieved during Kenya's leadership.

"On behalf of H.E. President William Ruto, I handed over the Presidency of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to Angola’s President João Lourenço during its 10th Summit, in Luanda.

"Besides a special message from H.E. President William Ruto to his Angolan counterpart H.E. President João Lourenço, I delivered the keynote address at the Summit, highlighting milestones achieved during Kenya’s leadership since 2019.

"Among other issues, I thanked the OACPS for establishing the Diaspora Trade Platform for Engagement, which will streamline investments to citizens, including our own," Gachagua posted.
