Girl, Naomi Kwamboka, seeks fees aid to join Form One

Despite Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha warning the selection committee and school principals against turning away needy students for failure to raise school fees, Naomi Kwamboka is the latest learner to be denied admission.
Having scored 335 marks in last year’s KCPE exam, Kwamboka was selected to join AIC Morop Girls Secondary School in Rongai, Nakuru county, but lack of school fees has forced her to stay at home.
Kwamboka, who hails from Kisii and sat her national exam at Endonyo Narok Primary School, said on reporting at the institution last Thursday, she was turned away by the management due to lack of school essentials and fees of about Sh45,000.
She had been accompanied by her sister Damaris Ogega and they were forced to spend the night in Nakuru town. After they ran out of money, they reported the matter at Nakuru Central Police Station.
Ogega urged well wishers to come to her sister’s aid, saying efforts to get help from all quarters have been futile.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy from Kilifi county who had lacked fees to join Maranda High School has received financial support from Lands CAS Gideon Mung’aro.
Godfrey Zacharia had almost lost hope of furthering his studies due to poverty despite scoring 409 marks. However, after the media highlighted his plight, he received Sh103,000 for fees and shopping from the CAS.
