A former Kenya Defence Forces soldier, Nixon Kukubo, has put the two top contenders in the 2022 presidential contest, Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, on notice.

Kukubo has told the duo to brace themselves for a bruising battle in next year's polls.

It is noteworthy that the ex-army officer vied and came last in the last two presidential elections.

The 64-year-old, who will be using the Tumaini Liberation Movement as his 2022 political vehicle, exuded confidence that he is the right person to be elected as Kenya's 5th Head of State.

“I still believe I am the right person to be elected as the President of Kenya. Kenyans need to be liberated from current corrupt political leaders,” he said.

Kukubo, who was speaking to a local daily, stated that his competitors are currently issuing lofty, unrealistic promises meant to hoodwink voters.

“Right now, the contesters move around giving promises that they won’t be able to accomplish. They are the same leaders who have failed to deliver to Kenyans," he added.

The politician cum musician beseeched seasoned politicians to pave way for leaders like him who have interacted with Kenyans, and understand their needs.

“An aspirant like Jimmy Wanjigi and I can form the government. Kenyans should consider fresh people with fresh minds and ideas,” he said.

The presidential hopeful is set to officially launch his candidature in February next year at the Bomas of Kenya.

“More than 33,000 people will attend. In each county, we will have 20 representatives," he averred.
