National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohammed was on Tuesday criticized for linking Deputy President William Ruto peaceful Migori tour to Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Junet said even those who were against Handshake were benefiting from its fruits.

"Congratulations the people of Migori for demonstrating that Handshake changed the politics of Kenya. Even anti-handshake prophets of doom are benefiting from the peace, unity and stability across the country," he posted on Twitter.

However, in a rejoinder, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdulahi said Migori residents could not start violence a week after disrupting Jimi Wanjigi's tour of the county.

"Hon...learnt a good lesson with Jimi Wanjigi...could not unleash violence on two consecutive weekends...even by Migori standards that could have been too violent!" Ahmednasir said.

In another reply, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot attributed the peace witnessed to the leadership of Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

"Obado is not Wanjigi. Had you planned those rioters of yours, they would have met the real owners of Migori. Wisely, you chose to maintain a safe distance," he posted on Twitter.

On September 17, rowdy youth disrupted a Wanjigi delegates’ meeting that was to take place at Maranatha Faith Assemblies church’s hall in Migori town.

The youth armed with stones and other crude weapons invaded the venue, beating up delegates who were already seated.
