Kenya COVID-19 cases jump to 490, six discharged

Kenya has confirmed 25 new cases of coronavirus, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi announced on Monday.

This brings the total number of cases in the country to 490.

The cases are drawn from 1, 012 people tested in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 15 are from Nairobi and 10 are from Mombasa.

"All the new cases are Kenyans and none has travel history," CAS Mwangangi said.

Six more patients have been discharged, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 173.

Nairobi cases are distributed across five estates namely Eastleigh (8), Mathare (1), Kawangware (2), Umoja (2) and Kariobangi (2).

In Mombasa, the cases are distributed across three estates: Old Town (8), Bombolulu (1) and Jomvu (1).
