Barely a month after the fallen matriarch of the former United States President Barrack Obama Mama Sarah Anyango Obama was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony, the family has yet again be thrown into mourning.

Eighty-one-year old Keziah Aoko Obama, the first wife to Barrack Hussein Obama senior passed on in England after a long illness. Keziah was the mother of  former US president’s siblings Malick Abongo Obama and Dr Rita Auma Obama.

Apart from the duo who have been in public limelight, the late Keziah also had three other children namely Mustafa, Sadiq and Omar.

Yesterday his eldest son Malick Obama confirmed to the People Daily that his mother died while receiving treatment in one of the facilities in England.

Malick said: “Yes its true my mother died after a long illness. For now we have no information yet but will communicate once we have the burial plans.”

Dr Auma Obama also paid tribute to her late mother whom she described as a strong pillar in their family.

“Yet again I have lost my mother. I am numb because this has just happened few weeks after the loss of our grandmother,” Auma said.

It is not yet clear however whether her body will be flown to her K’Ogelo home in Siaya county for burial as per the Luo tradition dictates or will be buried in England.

Mzee Elisha Oketch one of the elders in K’Ogello however said; “We demand that the body should be brought home and buried next to where the husband was buried as per our culture”.

Inside her K’Ogello home a sombre mood engulfed as villagers trickled in to mourn her.

Benta Onyango, one of her neighbor’s said, “ it is sad that we are still mourning Mama Sarah and yet again we have lost the woman who would have taken over from her”.

Unlike the late Mama Sarah Obama, the late Keziah was publicity shy and was never on the limelight.
