Kisumu leads in COVID-19 Infections as 1,134 patients recover from virus
The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday, May 25 announced that the positivity rate of COVID-19 now stands at 10.3%, with the total confirmed positive cases in the country rising to 168,925.
According to MOH 382 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample size of 3,719 tested in the last 24 hours.
From the cases, 366 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners; 226 are males and 156 females, while the youngest is a four-month-old baby and the oldest is 98 years.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, said 1,134 patients recovered from the coronavirus; 875 from the Home Based and Isolation Care, while 259 were discharged from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 115,813; of whom 84,228 are from Home Based Care and Isolation, while 31,585 are from various health facilities countrywide.
CS Kagwe however noted that 14 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, all of them being late deaths reported from facility record audits conducted in the last one month. This pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,087.
Kisumu is leading with 110 cases, followed by Kericho with 37, Siaya 33, Nairobi 31, Busia 28, Mombasa 20, Kitui and Nakuru 19 cases, Uasin Gishu and Hama Bay 14 cases.
Nyamira and Garissa had 10 cases, Makueni 7, Vihiga 5, Bomet, Machakos and Kakamega 3 cases, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyandarua and Meru 2 cases, Elgeyo Marakwet, Embu, Kajiado, Kilifi, Laikipia, Migori, Nandi and Turkana 1 case each.
