KUCCPS opens portal for course selections
Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service’s (KUCCPS) has now opened its portals to allow Form Four students select courses to pursue in universities and colleges next year under government sponsorship.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Wahome yesterday said the portal was opened on September 19 and will close on November 30.
Already, KUCCPS has issued communication to all secondary school principals on selection, with each candidate required to pay an application fee of Sh500 through their schools.
“All secondary schools will, on behalf of their candidates collect, collate and submit through the school portal, the applications for placement to universities and colleges following the procedure given in the website,” said Wahome, in a letter to all secondary school principals.
Students will be expected to make 16 choices, which comprises six degree courses starting, with the first choice being the most preferred for the candidate, four options for diploma option, four for crafts and artisan respectively.
The minimum admission requirements for Degree programmes is C+, Diploma C-, Craft Certificate D and Artisan Certificate D- (minus) and below in KCSE.
Wahome advised all Form Four students to apply during the current period so that they can benefit from career guidance from their teachers who have been trained by KUCCPS on the process.
KUCCPS is also holding career guidance activities in secondary schools across the country.
“This is the best time for the students to interact with KUCCPS officers and seek guidance as they choose courses,” said Wahome.
Since July 2022, the KUCCPS has sensitised 43,079 secondary school students from 92 schools in 29 counties and trained 4,505 career teachers working in 45 counties on career guidance.
