Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Moses Kuria says he put the country to economic recovery during his 11-month stint as the Cabinet Secretary for Trade.

In a statement after handing over to Kenya's new Trade CS Rebecca Miano, Kuria claimed that during his reign at the Ministry, he redrafted the Ministry policies to align with the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

"It has been 11 months marathon for me and my team at the Ministry of Investments Trade and Industry(MITI) as I redrafted and aligned the ministry to our Kenya Kwanza administration agenda," Kuria stated.

"I have done the foundation and put this country into an Economic revival and take off. The wheels of production have started to roll as investors are ready to industrialize the country from all corners through our revolutionary County Aggregation and industrial parks (CAIPs)."

Kuria moved in Cabinet reshuffle

President William Ruto moved Kuria from the Ministry of Trade to the Ministry of Public Service in a Cabinet reshuffle last week.

In the reshuffle received with mixed feelings by Kenyans, Miano, who had been serving as the Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development was moved to the Trade docket.

Kuria now says the foundation he laid in the Ministry of Trade will see the country become an export giant, instead of relying on imports always.

"The trade negotiations and investment partnership that we've initiated from all parts of the world like Indonesia, US, UAE, Saudi Arabia and others, will see this country move from an importing one to an export giant," he added.

In his new Ministry, Kuria says he is going to unlock walls that would be interfering with the speedy delivery of services and projects to Kenyans.

"I thank my Boss His Excellency President William Ruto for the new role he has assigned to me as the CS for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management where I'll take a lead role as the coordinator of all inter-ministerial projects and unlock any walls that would be interfering with a speedy delivery of services and projects to Kenyans," he added.

Kuria lists achievements

On his exit, Kuria listed 12 achievements during his stint at the Ministry of Trade.

He took credit for implementing the Exports & Investments Promotion Levy to discourage unnecessary imports, introducing a pipeline of 26 Mega Deals with the Gulf Region and Indonesia, and successfully negotiating a substantial Ksh450 billion investment from Afriexim Bank in E-Mobility, Special Economic Zones, and Export Processing Zones.

He also noted that he played a pivotal role in Kenya's accession to the Pan African Payment and Settlement System, launched County Aggregation and Industrial Parks in multiple counties, and initiated critical agreements, including the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union among others.
