Leaders have urged Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika to persist in her efforts to safeguard Nakuru War Memorial Hospital land from a questionable lease renewal by private investors.

During the opening of the Ogiek African Inland Church in Karandit, Tinet Ward, leaders, including former MPs, expressed their support, asserting that those opposing the move might have hidden motives.

Former Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter highlighted that the hospital issue had caused divisions among county leaders.

Keter endorsed the county government’s takeover of War Memorial Hospitaland emphasised on benefits if the land is utilised for a referral hospital.

“For instance, in Kericho, most referrals are done in Nakuru and the set-up of the facility will be of great benefit, if that’s what it takes to get the land from the private individuals, we support you 100 per cent, we should sit down and engage, this is not a matter that should involve the president, we need to respect each other as leaders,” he added.

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto on his part, urged Governor Kihika to stay focused on delivering her mandates and warned against interference.

Governor Kihika reaffirmed her determination to fight against the alleged forged lease extension, with the implicated individuals facing legal charges.

Former Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi called for unity among leaders, condemning those with hidden agendas opposing the cause.

“I am shocked with some leaders engaging in double talk, we need to unite the electorate and allow development to take precedence,” said Cheboi.

Former Soy MP Caleb Kositany advised resolving differences through dialogue, urging the leadership to avoid division and work towards the county’s development.
