Political leaders from Murang’a  county have continued to lobby for former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth to be given a senior position in the government.

The leaders said Kenneth is development oriented and his track record when he was Gatanga legislator speaks for itself.

Senator Irungu Kang’ata, Gatanga MP Ngugi Nduati and Maragua MP Mary Waithira said the former MP would be best suited to represent the interests of people of Murang’a.

In a move which appears to be grooming PK ahead of the 2022 General Elections, the legislators pledged to throw their weight behind him to ensure he gets a position in the government.

On his part Kang’ata said the government needs to inject into its system people with new energy and ideas which would help drive its agenda.

Last month, Kang’ata had hinted of a reshuffle in the cabinet and parastatals saying this was aimed at those public officers who are not performing.

His sentiments were echoed by Gatanga MP who said that Kenneth has on several occasions expressed his interest and readiness to work together with the President to help him fulfill his agenda.

Nduati said the county which is very vocals on political matters need an outspoken leader who will stand for her people after the exit of Uhuru from the office.

“We need to have that one person who can negotiate on behalf of our people and we feel Kenneth is the appropriate leader” he remarked.

The leaders were speaking during a food distribution exercise in Kambiti, Maragua that was sponsored by Kenneth.
