Battle lines are drawn as the 2020 Kisii County Secondary Schools Term One Games kick off across all the 11 sub- counties this morning.

Gucha, Nyamache and Masaba South are among sub-counties that kick off their championship this morning with Gucha Sub County Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary Bertrophers Machoka expecting stiff competition.

“Preparations are in top gear and all is set for this great championship,” Machoka told People Sport yesterday.

Gucha kicks off with handball and athletics this morning with cross-country, basketball and hockey scheduled for tomorrow at Tendere Boys High School.

Masaba South host their championship at Getacho and Moi Gesusu today where rugby sevens, basketball and cross-country will be on show with Chibwobi Secondary and Getacho Primary hosting athletics and handball on Friday.

Nyamache have lined up cross-country, handball, rugby sevens and basketball this morning with tomorrow reserved for athletics as Kenyenya host athletics, cross-country and rugby at Rianyanchabera, handball at Magena Primary School with basketball at Igorera Secondary School.

Kisii Central Sub County Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary Evans Siro confirmed their championship will kickoff tomorrow at Amasago (rugby) and Kisii School (athletics, handball, basketball and cross country).

“We want clean teams in our county competitions and we will not allow or entertain any form of cheating,” said Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary Geoffrey Nyantika.

“I urge all teams to ensure they present all required documents before taking part and in case of any complaint, it should be addressed amicably,” he added.

Gucha sub-county is yet again expected to churn out a strong athletics team that will give established Mogonga and Keberesi a run for their money.

Nyamonyo Secondary School, from Gucha, admitted very talented athletes in Form One this year who are tipped to overshadow Mogonga and Keberesi who have been no pushovers in the county.

Mogonga, who have produced national and international stars such as Mary Moraa, Elijah Matayo, James Saruni, will be watched keenly especially after losing their supportive principal early this year.
