Mudavadi and Wetangula accuse CS Wamalwa of dividing the Luhya community
Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang'ula have vowed to rally the Luhya community together ahead of 2022 general elections.
The two leaders accuse Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of dividing the Luhya community.
Speaking at M.P Chris Wamalwa's Kiminini home during Luhya leaders meeting, the leaders said they have rolled out a series of meetings across the Western region to forge for the region's development agenda.
The leaders have accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using the war against corruption to achieve a political agenda.
They also took issue with the alleged measures to revive the western region economic development is a hoax to hoodwink the electorate in the region.
Wetangula said the team that met the President has given the region a raw deal since the best they could get us was a bus instead of advocating for real solutions affecting locals.
They said there is a need for setting up of a commission of inquiry to unravel what fell the sugar industry in Western Kenya.
They noted there is no political leadership vacuum in the region accusing the team of Eugene Wamalwa and Governor Oparanya of planting seeds of discord.
The leaders accompanied by MPs from the Western region said they are working together as a team of all like-minded leaders for the interest of this region.
Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa said the community can not be auctioned saying Mudavadi and Wetang'ula are the sole leaders who should steer the community's political direction.
Mudavadi said the region is ripe to give this country a President and that is their interest towards 2022 general elections.
However, speaking at Kitale in a separate function, CS Eugene Wamalwa, Wycliffe Oparanya and Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati said their interest is to push for development agenda of the Western region.
In a seemingly political event, Wamalwa and Oparanya said their role has nothing to do with community spokesperson but working with the government to ensure the Luhya community benefits in development programmes.
